And, yet, I find myself looking over the edge. I'm asking myself the same questions. Will the cover speak to them? Will the prologue draw them in? Will they love the characters as much as I do? Just as we look over the edge of a diving board to access the height of the board and the depth of the water, so I am trying to see beyond that moment when the book is published and "out there" for all to read.
I am so pleased (and not a little relieved) that people have fallen in love with Mouse and Shadow, from The Treasure of Ravenwood. The success of my first book has left me more excited than nervous about publishing my second work. I won't say, though, that I am not at all nervous. Like any creative work, we wonder how it will be received. And, so, for now, I can only look over the edge, take a deep breath, and jump!
