Success, overnight or otherwise, is always preceded by a great deal of perspiration... aka hard work. Honestly, there is no such thing as an 'overnight success'. We'd like to think we can just sidle up to the soda counter and be discovered (if you're under 40, think homemade Youtube video). But, the truth is that a great deal of practice, work, tinkering, rework, frustration, tears, more frustration, discouragement, and yet more work precede becoming a success in any field. Writing is no different.
There is one other element that helps. And that is... inspiration. Not just your own inspiration to create but the way you are inspired by someone else. If, in all we do, we inspire others to take a leap of faith in themselves, I see that as one of the greatest gifts we can give. So, remember, when you are working, perspiring, and struggling to make it in your creative field, keep an eye out for those who are watching you closely. You never know who might be inspired to try their own wings, because you tested your own. And, that's success (and a little bit of genius) too!
