"You are one of us... and we welcome you home with open hearts."
As a writer, it's not uncommon to write more words than I need to say what needs to be said. Today, though, while editing my latest book for upcoming publication, I made a change to a sentence by adding one word. I was immediately amazed by that simple change and how it refocused the sentence. Within the story, the change is important. Subtle. Understated. But important, nonetheless. And that brings home just how powerful words are.
